Working in-depth on Mica, this experimental project focuses on expressing the character's "tragic" outcome through the costume. This strong woman in appearance goes through the artificial loss of a baby, only to hide a grotesque flaw ; an addiction to alcohol. The comedy here lies in this staged tragedy, with references to religious iconography (the Madonna) and to Louise Bourgeois' work on representation of fertility. When loosing control of the situation, she looses all credibility and power. This loss is suggested in the costume through an unraveling thread representing her baby. She is finally left with nothing but her wine flask from which she desperately tries to retrieve the last few drops of wine. As we discover her story, this bulky thread in her arms makes way for a vulnerable womb in her chest, a cavity symbolizing ache.
